LABOR MARKET CONDITIONS MAY INCREASE THE GIG WORKFORCE

800,000 federal workers were financially impacted during the government shutdown. Many of these workers turned to part-time jobs and popular gig work companies such as Uber and Lyft, but others sought out more stable work options.

Indeed released a report showing a significant increase in government workers searching for jobs. The labor demands also create the conditions for job seekers and employers to start taking a closer look at gig workforce platforms to alleviate the pressure of filling key roles. BEYOND SOCIAL MEDIA, RECRUITMENT ADVERTISING ON Q&A SITES

Quora recently announced broad match and phrase match keyword targeting at the ad set level, which expands the platform’s intent-based ad targeting beyond Topic and Question options to reach users as they’re reading relevant content.

While @Quora is often thought of as a niche Q&A site, its monthly visitation is on par with Twitter, and an active space for job seekers to ask questions to gain greater insight about companies of interest on topics such as:

  • What is the corporate culture like at …? How is the culture here different than other companies?
  • What has your experience been working at …?
  • What is the diversity policy at …?

Creating opportunities for employers to promote key roles and company culture contextually as job seekers are seeking information about them or a competitor—the questions are often role- and company-specific, example: “What are the differences in the work done by a Data Analyst and a Data Scientist at Netflix?https://www.socialmediatoday.com/news/quora-advertising-is-evolving-a-new-consideration-for-your-campaigns-in/547150/

FOLLOW THE GROWTH… WHO WILL BE THE NEXT MOVER IN THE RECRUITMENT ADVERTISING SPACE?

There was once a time when the idea of Google’s involvement in the talent acquisition space seemed preposterous, but the combination of increased competition to attract top talent and technological improvements to the application process, continues to create tremendous opportunity for vendors not traditionally in this space.

While not yet at the level of Facebook or Google, according to eMarketer, Amazon is the third-largest advertiser within the U.S. market. Advertisers see the advantage of aligning advertising directly with the product. NO IDEA IS TOO BIG: INCREASING BUSINESS VALUE AND THE TALENT PIPELINE

Google is set to open a new Lab in Princeton and will employ faculty, researchers and others from the University.
